we took this shot yesterday. It was quite rainy so we did some indoor photography.
We dripped some water into a bowl and kept it with a long exposure (0.8s). We filled in a flash manually with a blue diffusor mounted so that we got the effect we desired. The aperture was fully closed to make the long exposure time possible.
In the end we edited the shot slightly by blurring out the background and corrected the colors a bit.
We went outside for a photoshoot at night and tried to do some cool stuff with burning steel wool. We formed little balls out of it and spinned them around attached on a wire. Using a slow shutter speed (8s) and high aperture of f22 we were able to shoot at ISO 100.
Because of these camera settings the steel wool created some cool sparks flying around.
In the post processing we simply adjusted the contrast and brightness and sharpened the picture slightly to emphasize the sparks.
In the end this picture shows that you don’t necesserelily need high budget equipment and tons of gear to get awesome results. Sometimes just a camera, a lens and a litttle bit of creativity is just fine to get nice pictures!
